Season 3 Episode 3: The Star Wars/Star Trek Holiday Special

A not so long long time ago in a country not so far far away…

CAFÉ SEOUL

It is a time of yule tide cheer. Five expats
have come together under the shared love for
all things nerdy to bring you a podcast
episode that discusses the final frontier and
the galaxy far far away.

On Screen! This is Captain Jean Luc Picard of the Star Ship Enterprise! You have entered Federation space. We immediately demand you ahkkkkk... *gasp* akkkk.

***Special Guest Nerd – Dr. Michael Hurt***

-The Prequels Strike Back –
We discuss what was good about the prequels, even though the consensus is that these are generally terrible. We also try to find things we hated about the original trilogy.

-Where No Jedi has Gone Before-
We pair each Star Wars character with his TNG counterpart and discuss which of the two we’d rather be.

-The Wrath of Rob-
Dr. Michael Hurt discusses why it is that Koreans don’t seem to like Star Trek.

Major props to non-nerd Olivia Lim for surviving through this one.

Star Wars and Star Trek and all their characters and associated music used in this podcast is the property of their respective copyright holders, which to the best of my knowledge are Disney and Paramount.

Season 2, Episode 5: Return of the Kimchi

I always envisioned him looking differently, but this cartoon actually WAS commissioned by the government.

I always envisioned him looking differently, but this cartoon actually WAS commissioned by the government.

Kimchi Kim is BACK! He’s been gone quite a while but we felt like diving into this one more time. In retrospect, we didn’t think this would be our final go at it, but that’s just what happened. He may come back in the future, but not until we have some serious planning.
News of the Weird w/ Eugene

For On the Pulse w/ Rob, we spoke to journalist John Power about all the problems with media and the way that media works in Korea. Needless to say it was a bit of a downer, but John himself was a great guy!

The interview was quite long, so for the purposes of our show we edited it down, but the full interview is here!

Taken from John Power's Twitter, found from his webpage.

A few months after appearing on our podcast, John wrote an article about this very subject that proved to be very popular.

Season 2, Episode 4: Jeopardy

After the somber episode 2 weeks ago it’s time to have a little fun… with a game! We love games! Especially quiz games! News of the Weird w/Eugene

In the final story there, we took issue with fox news for using stock footage of crying Asians when talking about the ferry disaster. These people were not in Korea at all. Shameful. (edit – they admitted it)

And then it was time for Jeopardy! Eugene made questions for 4 categories: Seoul Landmarks, The Golden Age of Kpop, The ‘twon, and Road Trip Rob, Olivia, and Aaron then tested their wits and knowledge about this land we live in. Some of the questions were hard.
