Season 2, Episode 1: Adoption

After almost a year long hiatus we picked up in Season 2. Sadly Christine and Michael decided not to join, necessitating a total revamp. This episode served as a pilot of our new format, introducing Aaron Martinson to cohost with Olivia.

Eugene now is doing News of the Weird, where he introduces 3 strange news stories, and Rob is here for On the Pulse where we look to have a discussion on a social issue, possibly with an interview.

Here are the stories for News of the Weird w/Eugene:

On the Pulse w/Rob: He interviewed adoptee activist Shannon Heit about adoptee issues and a particular SNL Korea sketch that just wasn’t kosher.

An excellent write-up of the entire issue by Roboseyo, including the video itself can be found here!

Season 1, Episode 1: New Year’s Expectations

If this is your first time listening to Café Seoul..

DO NOT START WITH THIS EPISODE!!!

Frankly we are very embarrassed by the end result here, because we had no idea what we were doing. If this is your first listen, I would highly recommend skipping to season 2. Season 1 had this awful first episode and a bunch of sketch comedy. Frankly I’ve not taken it down because I think it is good to have a record of our history. Everything has to begin somewhere. We get better!

Café Seoul began as a round table with six members, and this episode is notable for the first and last appearance of Dan, who was instrumental in getting Eugene to actually pull the podcast cast together. Thanks, Dan, for being Walter White to our Grey Matter Technologies.

In this episode, we discuss Korea’s first female president elect, Pres. Park Geun-hye, who had just entered office at the time of recording. We discuss our hopes and expectations, and what it will and won’t accomplish for Korea to elect its first female president.

The original founding six members of Café Seoul were:
Rob Ouwehand – Author of popular blog Roboseyo and radio personality.
Christine Shin – Broadcast media veteran and radio personality.
Olivia Lim – Actress and radio personality.
Michael Jones – Public speaking consultant and radio personality.
Dan Shin – Radio newscaster and radio personality.
Eugene Hwang – Radio show writer and radio personality.

Well, not exactly a PILF in this picture, but what the hey!
